Welcome to the City!

The box battle is expanding – and this time, we’re taking it to the streets. Say hello to our brand-new map: City!

What’s New?

City is our most open-ended and vertical map so far – an urban arena filled with tight alleys, open squares, rooftops, and box-chucking ambush points around every corner. Whether you’re launching a surprise attack from a fire escape or staging a last-second base steal across a boulevard, this map rewards both precision and panic.

It’s Kisten Royale with a bit more city smog and a lot more flying cardboard.

We wanted to challenge players to think differently about how they move, defend, and attack. We wanted to shake things up. Castle was a clean, symmetrical map – a wide-open field. Great for learning the ropes. City breaks that pattern, it’s dense, uneven, and unpredictable. Rooftops replace open space, back alleys replace midfield standoffs, and sightlines are no longer guaranteed. The first step toward a messier, more dynamic Kisten Royale.

This is part of our long-term plan to expand the game’s map variety and shift how rounds play depending on the environment.

City streets, open chaos.

The City map comes as part of patch 1.2.2, which also includes a fix for a nasty multiplayer bug: previously, leaving a lobby and then trying to join or host another one could break multiplayer until you restarted the game. That’s now fixed.

For a full list of changes, head over to the Kisten Royale Changelog.

What’s Next?

The City map is just the beginning. We’re experimenting with:

  • Night variants and weather conditions 🌧️
  • Map-specific modifiers and box types 📦
  • A vote-to-choose system before matches

We’re also still polishing the movement system and networking stability, based on your feedback (keep it coming!).
